Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential to achieve the best healed results and to support the healing process.
The healing period typically lasts 7-14 days, with full colour settling over 4-6 weeks.
Immediately after treatment:
🌿 The treated area may appear darker, more defined, or slightly swollen immediately after treatment. This is normal and will soften during the healing process.
🌿 Mild redness, tenderness, or minor swelling may occur for 24-48 hours.
🌿 A small amount of clear (lymph) fluid may appear during the first few hours following treatment.
Cleaning the Area:
For the first 24 hours
🌿 If lymph fluid appears, gently blot the area with a clean tissue or cotton pad.
🌿 Do not rub the area.
🌿 Avoid touching the area with unwashed hands.
From Day 2 onwards
🌿 Gently cleanse the area once or twice daily using lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser.
🌿 Pat the area dry with a clean tissue or disposable towel.
🌿 Do not rub or scrub the treated area.
Moisturising:
🌿 Apply a very thin layer of the recommended aftercare balm using clean hands or a cotton bud.
🌿 Apply 2-3 times per day if the area feels dry or tight.
🌿 Do not over-apply product - the skin needs to breathe in order to heal properly.
Healing Process:
During the healing period you may notice:
🌿 The pigment appearing darker for the first few days.
🌿 Light flaking or small scabs between days 4-7.
🌿 The colour appearing lighter or slightly patchy once flakes fall away.
This is a normal part of the healing process. The pigment will continue to soften over the following weeks.
What to avoid during healing (7-14 days):
⚠️ Touching the area unnecessarily
⚠️ Picking, scratching, or removing flaking skin
⚠️ Applying makeup directly over the treated area
⚠️ Saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and swimming pools
⚠️ Sun beds or excessive sun exposure
⚠️ Heavy sweating or intense exercise for the first 48 hours
⚠️ Skincare containing retinol, acids, or exfoliants near the treated area
⚠️ Facials, chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments on the treated area
Infection Prevention:
⚠️ Only apply the recommended aftercare product
⚠️ Do not apply other creams, oils, or cosmetics to the treated area
⚠️ Avoid touching the area unnecessarily
⚠️ Ensure hands are clean before applying aftercare balm
Long-Term Care:
🌿 Once healed, always apply SPF to the treated area to protect the pigment from fading
🌿 Avoid excessive sun exposure where possible
🌿 Some fading over time is normal, and maintenance treatments may be required.
Touch-Up Appointment:
A perfecting session is normally recommended 4-6 weeks after treatment. This allows the pigment to be adjusted and perfected once the skin has fully healed.
